Where do I find my affiliate link?

Your link already exists, there is nothing to generate. Sign in to the affiliate portal, open Campaigns, and press Copy Link in the Tracking link column of any campaign you have been approved for.

Your affiliate link already exists. There is no generate button and nothing to request from the merchant. As soon as a merchant approves you on a campaign, the link is sitting in the affiliate portal waiting to be copied.

Where to look

  1. Sign in to the affiliate portal.
  2. Open Campaigns from the portal menu. The page is headed "Available Campaigns" and lists every campaign you have joined or been invited to.
  3. On a computer, find the campaign row and press Copy Link in the Tracking link column. On a phone, each campaign is a card with a Tracking link box and a copy button beside it.
  4. To see the link itself, click the row or tap the card. Campaign Details opens with the full link under the heading "Tracking link", plus your earnings and click count.

Your link is per campaign. Promote three campaigns and you have three different links, each one earning only on its own campaign.

It comes in one of two shapes, and which one you get is down to the merchant's settings, not anything you can change:

  • a short link such as linkjolt.io/l/sarah-jones, when the merchant has turned on affiliate names in links
  • a longer link with ?tc= and &aff= in it, the rest of the time

Both track exactly the same. The part before the slash can differ too: some merchants run their program on a branded address like brandname.linkjolt.io, and some on their own domain, such as partners.yourcompany.com.

Paste the link whole and never trim anything after the question mark. That tracking code is the only thing that says the sale was yours. A link with it edited off still delivers the visitor to the merchant, and credits nobody.

Links you shared on a linkjolt.io address keep working even if the merchant changes their branding later. One exception: if your link is on the merchant's own domain and they disconnect that domain, links already shared on it stop working, and new links fall back to their linkjolt.io address.

How long a click counts

30 days. Someone who clicks your link is remembered for 30 days, so a purchase they make a week or three weeks later still credits you. The window is the same on every campaign and cannot be changed by you or by the merchant.

  • Accept and Decline buttons where the link should be: you have an invitation you have not accepted. Accept it and your link appears.
  • "Awaiting merchant approval": you applied through Discover and the merchant has not approved you yet. You will be notified when they do.
  • The campaign is not in the list at all: you have not joined it. Campaigns only shows programs you have joined or been invited to.
  • The copy button is greyed out and says "Unavailable while suspended": contact the merchant to sort it out.

Linking to a specific page

If the merchant has set a website for the campaign, open Campaign Details and look under Tracking link for Send customers to. Choose A specific page, paste the page address you want people to land on, and your link to it is built for you. The page has to be on the merchant's own site, so an address anywhere else is refused. It tracks the same way, over the same 30 days.

For how links compare with codes at checkout, read "What is the difference between tracking links and coupon codes?". For what happens after a sale is credited to you, read "When and how do affiliates actually get paid?".

Related questions

Why is my commission still pending?

A commission stays pending until the merchant reviews and approves it, and merchants approve on their own schedule. LinkJolt has no setting and no timer that approves commissions automatically, so pending means the merchant has not actioned it yet.

Connect Stripe so your commissions can be paid automatically

Connecting your own Stripe account in the affiliate portal is what lets a merchant's automated payout reach you. Your commissions are tracked and approved either way, but without a connected account the merchant pays you by hand through PayPal, Wise or a bank transfer instead.

How do affiliates join my program?

Six ways: a personal email invitation, a shareable signup link, a pasted list of addresses, the Discovery marketplace on Professional and above, importing your existing roster from another platform, or the Developer API on Ultimate and Scale.

Can affiliates start promoting before I approve them?

Yes. Pending affiliates can generate tracking links and drive conversions right away, but those commissions stay unpaid until you approve both the affiliate and the commission. Nothing is paid out without your approval.
