How does LinkJolt detect affiliate fraud and self-referrals?

LinkJolt uses rule-based checks, not AI. It compares signals like the email address, IP address, and device between the buyer and the affiliate to flag likely self-referrals, so you can reject suspicious commissions before paying them.

The most common affiliate fraud is self-referral: an affiliate buying through their own link to earn a commission. LinkJolt flags the likely cases automatically.

How it works

When a sale comes in, LinkJolt compares the buyer and the referring affiliate on signals such as:

  • a matching email address,
  • a matching IP address,
  • a matching device fingerprint.

When enough of these line up, the conversion is flagged as a likely self-referral so you can review and reject it before it is paid.

This is rule-based detection, not AI. It runs automatically on every tracked sale and never blocks a real customer's purchase. It only flags the commission for your review.
