Does this work without Stripe?
Yes. The JavaScript tracking method works with any payment processor. It tracks conversions on the order confirmation page regardless of which payment gateway you use. However, for the most reliable tracking, connecting Stripe or Paddle webhooks directly gives you server-to-server attribution that cannot be blocked by ad blockers.
How reliable is JavaScript-based tracking?
JavaScript tracking works well for most visitors. However, it can miss conversions if a customer has an aggressive ad blocker that blocks the tracking script, or if they close the browser before the order confirmation page fully loads. For the highest reliability, pair this with Stripe Payment Links or a direct Stripe webhook integration.
What about ad blockers?
Some ad blockers may block the tracking script. Cookie and localStorage storage is generally not blocked. If a customer has an aggressive ad blocker, the conversion tracking call on the order confirmation page may not fire. This is a limitation of all JavaScript-based tracking, not specific to LinkJolt.
Do I need a Squarespace Business plan?
Yes. Code Injection is available on Squarespace Business and Commerce plans. The Basic plan does not support custom code injection.
Can I use Stripe Payment Links instead?
Yes, and we recommend it for the most reliable tracking. If you sell through Stripe Payment Links on your Squarespace site, the tracking script automatically appends affiliate attribution to the payment link URL. Stripe webhooks then handle conversion tracking server-side.
What Squarespace template variables are available?
Squarespace provides {orderId} and {orderSubtotalCents} on the order confirmation page. LinkJolt uses these to track the conversion amount (converted from cents to dollars) and deduplicate orders by ID.
