When a customer clicks an affiliate's unique link or uses their coupon code, tracking parameters are captured. When they purchase, that sale is automatically linked to the affiliate for commission.

Customer Clicks Affiliate Link
A potential customer clicks an affiliate's unique tracking link. Parameters are captured and stored in cookies and localStorage.
Tracking Parameters Stored
The tracking code (tc) and affiliate ID (aff) are saved with a 30-day expiry. This ensures attribution survives browsing sessions.
Customer Makes Purchase
When the customer checks out, the tracking script adds a client_reference_id to the Stripe session containing the affiliate data.
Webhook Sends Conversion
Stripe/Paddle sends a webhook to LinkJolt with the sale details. We extract the affiliate data and create the conversion record.
Commission Calculated
Based on your campaign settings (percentage or fixed), the commission is automatically calculated and added to the affiliate's pending earnings.
Affiliate Gets Paid
Approve the commission and pay via Stripe Connect. The affiliate receives funds directly to their bank account.

What tracking methods does LinkJolt support?
LinkJolt supports three methods: (1) Link-based tracking using URL parameters stored in cookies for 30 days, (2) Coupon-based tracking with Stripe coupons mapped to affiliates, and (3) Webhook-based conversion tracking from Stripe and Paddle for real-time attribution.
How long does the tracking cookie last?
LinkJolt uses a 30-day attribution window. This means if a customer clicks an affiliate link and makes a purchase within 30 days, the affiliate will receive credit. We also use localStorage as a backup to ensure tracking survives cookie clears.
Can I track conversions without cookies?
Yes! LinkJolt offers coupon-based tracking as a cookieless alternative. Affiliates share unique coupon codes, and when customers use them at checkout, the sale is automatically attributed to the affiliate who owns that code.
Do I need to write code to set up tracking?
You'll need to add a small JavaScript tracking script to your website (one line of code). After that, everything else is automated - conversions are tracked via webhooks from your payment processor.
