Connect Stripe Once, and LinkJolt Handles Affiliate Tracking

Connecting Stripe to LinkJolt now takes one approval. You click Set up with Stripe, approve LinkJolt on Stripe's own site, and your sales, renewals and refunds start reaching LinkJolt automatically. There is no webhook to create, no list of events to select, and no signing secret to copy between two dashboards.

The same approval powers a second feature: LinkJolt can now create affiliate coupon codes directly in your Stripe account, so you never have to create a code twice.

What the old setup looked like

Affiliate tracking runs on webhooks. Your payment processor has to tell the affiliate platform when a sale happens, otherwise nobody gets credited and nobody gets paid.

Until this week, wiring that up meant a specific sequence: open your Stripe dashboard, go to Developers, then Webhooks, add an endpoint, paste in a URL from LinkJolt, scroll a long list of event types and tick the right ten, save, then find the signing secret Stripe generates and paste that back into LinkJolt. Miss an event and some sales never track. Paste the wrong secret and none of them do. Roll that secret months later and tracking stops silently.

It is a reasonable amount of work for something that feels like it should be a button.

What it looks like now

In the Integration Hub, the webhook step now offers to do it for you. You approve LinkJolt once on Stripe's site, and from that moment your events flow through to LinkJolt on their own. Nothing is created inside your account and there are no secrets for you to store or rotate.

You can revoke the connection at any time from your Stripe dashboard, under connected applications. Doing so stops the tracking, which is exactly the behaviour you want from a permission you granted.

The manual setup is still there, unchanged, in a section below the automatic option. Some teams prefer to grant no account access at all, and Stripe accounts that are managed by another platform cannot use the connection route. Both keep working exactly as before, and if you already have tracking set up manually, nothing about your setup changes.

Coupon codes, created for you

The second half of this is coupons.

Plenty of affiliates promote with a discount code rather than a link, especially creators and newsletter writers. Setting that up used to be double entry: create the coupon in Stripe, then register the same code in LinkJolt so we know which affiliate to credit when it gets used.

With the connection in place, LinkJolt creates the code in your Stripe for you. You pick the affiliate, the code, the discount and how long it lasts, and it appears in your Stripe account ready to share. The attribution details that make the code trackable are filled in automatically, which also removes a common failure where a code worked at checkout but was never credited to anyone.

Deleting a code in LinkJolt does not touch your Stripe account. It only stops us attributing new sales to it, and we say so on the screen.

What still needs setting up

One honest caveat, because affiliate platforms are often vague about this. The connection covers the webhook half of setup, which is where most people got stuck. It does not cover the tracking script.

For link-based tracking, your site still needs the LinkJolt script so that when a visitor arrives through an affiliate link, that referral is carried into the checkout. That is steps one and two in the Integration Hub, and they are unchanged.

Coupon-based tracking is the exception. If your affiliates promote with codes rather than links, the connection plus a coupon code is genuinely all you need.

Where to find it

Both features are live now for every plan.

The Stripe connection is in the Integration Hub, on the Stripe tab, at the webhook step. Coupon creation is on the Coupons page, and on any affiliate's row on the Affiliates page. If you connect from one, the other is already set up: it is a single permission covering both.
